The Database tab
See and edit your app's records, recover what was deleted, manage who can sign in and run read-only queries without leaving the editor.
What it is
Code projects that keep information (sign-ups, orders, bookings, tasks) have a database of their own. The Database tab, at the top of the code editor, shows that real data: the same data the published site reads and writes.
Tables and fields are defined in the project's code, in the data/model.json file. To create a table, add a field or change permissions, ask the AI in the chat. The tab takes care of the data, not the structure. See Code mode.
Note.If the project has no database yet, the tab shows an Ask the AI for a database button that sends the request to the chat for you, like any other request.
What you find in the tab
| Area | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Tables | Every table in the app, with its number of records. Search, create, edit, delete, import and export. |
| Users | Who can sign in to the published app: invitations, roles, disabling and removing people. |
| Trash | Records deleted in the last 30 days, on the site or in the tab, ready to restore. |
| Activity | What was done to the data, on the published site and here. |
| SQL query | Read-only queries on the project's tables. |
View and edit records
Open the project and click Database
On a phone, the list of tables becomes a menu at the top of the tab.
Pick a table under Tables
Use Search… to filter the records.
Click New record or edit an existing one
Required fields are marked, and links to other tables are picked from a list.
To remove one, use Delete
The record goes to the Trash and can come back exactly as it was for 30 days.
Import and export spreadsheets
- Export CSV downloads the open table, following the search that is active.
- Import CSV accepts files up to 2 MB. The first row must hold the field names, as in the exported file. You can also paste the spreadsheet's contents.
- Before importing, click Check: Micronuage shows how many rows are ready and which ones have problems. Nothing is imported while there are errors.
- The expected format for dates, numbers, links and people is shown in the import window itself.
Read-only SQL queries
In SQL query you write a SELECT to answer questions such as how many orders came in this month. There are ready-made Examples and a list of the tables you can use. Click Run or press Ctrl+Enter.
- No query can change, create or delete data.
- Only this project's tables are visible. The app's users appear without passwords.
- Each query returns up to 500 rows and runs for up to 5 seconds. Use
LIMIT,WHEREor aggregates for larger results. - Copy as CSV takes the result into a spreadsheet.
Tip.Workspace members with the Viewer role can see the data and run queries, but can't change anything.
Frequently asked questions
Does restoring an older code version bring data back?
No. Version history keeps the code. The data stays as it is. To recover a deleted record, use the Trash.
If I remove a field from the model, is its data lost?
No. When the database is updated, Micronuage adds tables and fields but never drops columns: the removed field's values stay stored. A field also can't change type once created; in that case, ask the AI for a new field.
Why am I not in the app's list of users?
The tab acts as an administrator of the app without needing an account in it. What you do here shows up in Activity marked as done from Micronuage.
Can the AI see my records?
No. The AI works with the structure of the tables, never with the records. See Data isolation.
Do template projects have this tab too?
No. The Database tab is part of code projects.
