Show up in search and on social

What Micronuage already does to help people find your site (titles, descriptions, sitemap, robots.txt and link previews) and what you can adjust.

What comes ready

Every published template site goes out with the SEO basics in place:

  • A title and description on every page. If you don't write your own, the home page uses the company name and tagline, and the other pages use "Page | Company" and the page's first meaningful sentence.
  • A sitemap at /sitemap.xml, with every page of the site.
  • robots.txt at /robots.txt, opening the site to search engines and pointing to the sitemap.
  • An official (canonical) address: your own domain once it's live; before that, the free address.
  • Link previews, with title, description and image when someone shares the link.
  • Structured data that helps Google understand the business, the path between pages, FAQs and articles.

Adjust the site's title, description and image

  1. In the project editor, open More → Site settings

  2. Fill in Search title

Up to 70 characters. Include the business name and what it does, such as "Joe's Bakery | Sourdough bread in Austin".

  3. Fill in Search description

Up to 170 characters. A summary that makes people want to click.

  4. Choose the Share image

It's the image shown when someone shares the link. Without one, we use the logo.

  5. Click Save changes and publish again

The live site only changes after a new publish.

Each page's title and description

To adjust a specific page, ask in the chat, for example: "On the Services page, use the title 'Bookkeeping for small businesses in Denver' and a description about setting up a company and filing taxes." The AI follows the same 70 and 170 character limits.

Code sites and apps

  • In code projects, titles, descriptions and share images are part of the code: ask the AI to create or adjust them. If the code doesn't ship files of its own, Micronuage serves an open robots.txt and a sitemap.xml with the site's fixed pages.
  • Template sites that work as an app, with sign-in and data, are not indexed: their inner screens don't appear in search engines.

Measure visits

Site settings has fields for Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and Microsoft Clarity codes. They only load after the visitor accepts cookies, and the cookie notice appears by itself whenever one of the codes is filled in.

Frequently asked questions

How long until the site shows up on Google?

There is no guaranteed time: it depends on when Google visits the site. To help, add the site to Google Search Console and submit the sitemap address (/sitemap.xml).

How do I verify the site in Google Search Console?

With your own domain, use verification through a TXT record in the domain's DNS, in the same dashboard where you created the CNAME. Then submit /sitemap.xml.

I changed the title and Google still shows the old one.

Check that you published after the change. After that, Google updates on its next visit to the site, which can take a few days.

Is a custom domain worth it?

Yes. Once the domain is live, it becomes the pages' official address for search engines, and it's the address you promote, under your own brand.
