Signing in and getting back in

Sign in with email and password, with Google or with a code sent by email, and reset your password when you forget it.

Ways to sign in

OptionWhen to use it
Continue with GoogleIf you signed up with Google, or your account's email is the same as your Google account's.
Email and passwordThe standard path if you created the account with a password.
Code by emailWhen you'd rather not type your password: we email you a 6-digit code.

Signing in with an emailed code

  1. On the Sign in screen, click Email me a code instead

  2. Enter your email and click Send code

  3. Type the code you received and click Verify and sign in

The code is valid for 10 minutes and can only be used once. If it expires, use Send a new code.

I forgot my password

  1. On the sign-in screen, click Forgot your password?

Or go straight to Reset your password.

  2. Enter your email and click Send reset link

  3. Open the link that arrives in your inbox

The link is valid for 1 hour and works only once.

  4. Choose a new password and click Update password

Use at least 10 characters. You're signed in right after.

Note. For security, the code and reset screens respond the same way whether or not an account exists for the email entered. If the message doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder and make sure the email was typed correctly.

Accounts created with Google

If you signed up with Google, your account starts without a password. To also sign in with email and password, set one under Settings → Password or use Forgot your password?: the reset link creates the account's first password.

How long you stay signed in

Once you sign in, your browser keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. To sign out, use the Sign out button at the bottom of the sidebar, next to your name. Signing out only ends the session in that browser; on shared computers, always sign out when you're done.

Common problems

“Email or password is incorrect.”

Check the email and the password, including capital letters. If the account was created with Google, use Continue with Google or create a password through the reset link.

“Too many attempts. Please wait a few minutes and try again.”

After several attempts in a row, access is paused for a few minutes to protect the account. Wait and try again; if you don't remember the password, reset it.

“That code is incorrect or has expired.”

The code is valid for 10 minutes and works once. Request another with Send a new code and use the latest one.

“This link is invalid or has expired. Request a new one.”

The reset link lasts 1 hour and works only once. Go back to Reset your password and request another.

“We couldn't complete sign-in with Google.”

Try again and pick the right Google account. Its email must be verified with Google. If it keeps failing, sign in with email and password or with a code.

“Your account was deleted.”

This message appears right after an account is deleted. A deleted account can't be reopened from the dashboard, but you can create a new one with the same email.
