Publish your site

Publishing puts the project's current version online at a free address and keeps that version in the history. Here's how in template and code projects.

What publishing does

  • The site starts answering at the project's free address and, if you connected one, at your own domain.
  • The published version is recorded in the history, so you can go back to it later.
  • Changes made afterwards don't reach visitors until you publish again.
  • Anyone with the address can see the site.

Publishing doesn't use AI credits and is available on every plan, Free included. To use your own domain, see Connect your domain.

Publish a template project

  1. Click Publish at the top right of the editor

The panel shows whether the site is already live and whether there are changes that haven't been published.

  2. Check the checklist

If required items are still open, the panel says so. Click the notice to open the Publishing checklist and sort out what's missing.

  3. Click Publish

If items are still open, the button becomes Publish anyway, so you can confirm you want to go ahead.

  4. Copy or open the address

Under Website URL you'll find the link, a copy button and a button to open the site.

After the first publish, a dot on the Publish button means there are changes that aren't live, and the panel's button becomes Publish changes. When nothing is pending, the panel says Your site is up to date.

Publish a code project

  1. Click Publish at the top of the code editor

  2. Confirm with Publish now

The window shows which version goes live.

  3. Wait for the site to be built

Micronuage builds the site from the code. If something doesn't compile, nothing is published, the problems are shown for you to fix, and the site that was live stays as it was.

If the project has a database, publishing also updates its tables. When a change to the data model doesn't match what is already saved (for example, a field that changed type), publishing stops before anything goes live. To go back to an earlier version, restore it in History and publish again.

Take the site offline

There is no unpublish button today. If you need to take the site offline, you can delete the project or write to support.

Note. When you move to a plan with fewer projects, the projects over the limit are suspended: their data and settings are kept, but the site goes offline until the limit allows it again.

Frequently asked questions

Who can publish?

Workspace owners, admins and editors. Members with the Viewer role can't publish.

I published, but the site shows the old version.

Open the publish panel: if it doesn't say the site is up to date, there are changes that haven't been published. If it is up to date, reload the site or try a private window.

Does publishing change the site's address?

No. The free address is set when the project is created and doesn't change when you publish or rename the project. See Free address.

Do forms work before publishing?

No. Leads only arrive from published sites. See Forms and leads.
